I did some research and we could actually use a large permanent magnet DC motor from an old vertical computer tape drive. They are very robust, well built motors about the size of a large car starter motor.
I don't know if you can find the type of tape drive that they are looking for that easily. Research a picture of the machine to which they are referring.
We have regular computers as you can see, but the large tape drives that feed data to mainframes may be what they are recommending.
Get right on it to see - in case you have to hunt for a motor source.

I think it would work, efficiently and we can just get it from an old crappy computer.
